Dakshina Bharatha Kalari

Dakshina Bharatha Kalari the oldest traditional ķalari situated at Fort Kochi founded by Late.K Paramu Gurukkal of kadathanad in 1942. It is the one of the few kalaries where both northern and southern styles of kalaripayattu being trained.


In 1970 K.Paramu Gurukkal handedover the charge of this kalari to his one of the senior disciple K.M.Sreedharan and in 1975 he was honoured as guru of Dakshina Bharatha Kalari.


Sri.Kolloth M Sreedharan travelled extensively around kerala to attain knowledge about kalari and marma treatment from different masters like SriViswanathan Gurukkal,Sri.Sankaranarayanan Gurukkal,Sri.Mohandas Gurukkal,Sri.Rajkumar Gurukkal and many others,also he maintained a good relationship with them to develop this devine martial art..


During his time students of DBK were champions in many national and state level competetions and he started kalari trainning for girls for there empowerment. In 1990’s as a result of his effort and commitment to this art a traditional 42ft kalari was constructed at kortkochi and people from all walks of life were trained here. He had trained more than 4000 students all over the world After his demise in 2010 his son sri aswani kumar and his wife Mereena continued the lineage of this kalari.


Currently as part of social commitment we are conducting self defense classes,workshops for women and childrens of all age groups at various schools and other institutions. Bhadra yoga a sister concern of DBK is given yoga and wellness training classes exclusively for women . DBK offers training in traditional kalari ,kalari massage, treatments,and marma treatments ,and treatment for all kind of illness.


Under the supervision of Smt.Mereena aswani kumar we have started a seperate batch for kalari training exclusively for women of all age group.

Regular classes : Monday to Saturday Morning 6.30 am to 8.30 am Monday to Friday Evening 6.30 PM to 8.30 Pm

Vanitha Kalari : Weekends [Saturday & Sunday ] 7.30 am to 8.30 am.
